Palpitations

What are heart palpitations?

Heart palpitations are heartbeats that are more noticeable to you. You might feel like your heart is pounding, beating faster, harder, or at an uneven speed. Sometimes heart palpitations can happen when your heart is beating quickly, but they can also happen when your heart is beating at a normal rate.

Most of the time, heart palpitations are not serious but should be investigated by a qualified physician to rule out any serious conditions.

Heart palpitations are often felt more at night or when you lie down. They may also be noticed if you have increased awareness of your heart rhythm, such as if you’re exercising.
